Comment: Question 19 in the self test questions doesn't have a correct answer. It states to size single wall vent connectors The Vent connector for the Boiler on single wall vent connector table C4 comes out to 5", the furnace sizes to 5", the HWT sizes to 3". The B vent size when I add all the inputs of the appliances and get 125000 + 95 000 + 32 000 = 252 000 total output When I use the C.4 chart common vent chart I use DP(F+N) sizes to 7"

The 5 ILM objectives are not the same as the 6 course outline objectives. 1. Identify pilot burner types and terminology. 2. Describe characteristics of pilot burners. 3. Explain operating principles of thermocouples and thermopiles. 4. Describe operational tests performed on thermopiles and thermocouples. 5. Describe causes for thermocouple and thermopile failures. 6. Troubleshoot pilots, thermocouples and thermopiles.

Comment: This ILM does not follow the course outline as Sect. 3 D.: matter density and relative density, (gas fitting ILM is used to cover Matter density and relative density course outline objectives) Some of the ILM objectives may fit elsewhere in the course outline like H, gas system components.

Comment: This Basic service ILM does not match the course outline Sect.3 e. Pressure and atmosphere. (we use a gasfitting ILM to cover this) Some of the content in this ILM maybe used for sect.3 H. although much of it needs to be updated with current technologies thermostats, blower motors, Bh venting etc.

Comment: This comment is more directed to the overall 2nd year course outline vs ILM package. course outline sect. 3 H, I, J(to some degree), K, L, M, N and Sect. 2 D, E, do not have materials that properly match the course outline. We do use a variety of ILMs that may cover a certain component of an outcome but not with any order. Students are forced to buy these ILMs that only have a few important pages for the course with the rest either duplicated or not used.

Comment: Sect.3 J. gas piping is where this information is located. The 5 ILM objectives are close in context but not a match with the 9. course outline objectives. 1. Identify types, markings, designations, temperature and pressure ratings of ferrous pipe and fittings. 2. Identify applications of codes, regulations and manufacturer’s specifications. 3. Describe fabrication steps for threading and grooving pipe. 4. Describe black malleable fittings and joining methods. 5. Describe copper pipe and joining methods. 6. Describe stainless steel flexible coated gas pipe. 7. Demonstrate threading, bending, joining and flaring of gas piping. 8. Describe installation codes found in the applicable gas code. 9. Demonstrate cutting and joining of stainless steel flexible coated piping.
