Comment: Objective One Activity, question 1 asks “In the equation, 9-6+15x7÷4=, what is the first portion to be solved”. The answer provided is “7÷4”, which is incorrect. The correct answer is “15x7”, as multiplication and division are given equal priority in the order of operations.

Comment: The Order of Operations text states, “The order of operations is remembered with the acronym BEDMAS taking the first initial of each word”. Further text needs to be included to state “DIVISION and MULTIPLICATION are given equal priority when solving from left to right, then ADDITION and SUBTRACTION are given equal priority when solving from left to right”. The equation provided on pages 4 and 5 is solved inaccurately. The break down is correct up to this point: 9+5x8÷2-3+48÷24. From there the text says, “DIVISION must be completed before MULTIPLICATION”. In fact, they are considered equal, and all multiplication and division should be solved in the same sequence. As are addition and subtraction in the next step of BEDMAS. The equation above should solve as follows: 9+5x8÷2-3+48÷24 9+20-3+2 =28 Please update wording, correct order of operations, and double check other equations in the module.
